As the holidays approach, some parents are beginning to worry about the holidays and how they will manage the expectations and holiday hopes of their children when they can’t seem to manage their daily bills. Through Irving Cares, you can create a haven of hope for struggling families during the holidays.

We enrolled 48 families with young children this year that will have their rent paid in December and receive a hearty food order. After a required money management course, these parents are empowered to manage their holiday shopping thoughtfully, and even to save a little for the next rainy day.

“To date, we have received donations of nearly $6,000 toward the $18,000 program expense. As you are considering your calendar year-end gifts this year, please make a gift to the Holiday Assistance Program at Irving Cares,” said Teddie Story, Irving Cares CEO.

Since 1957, Irving Cares has offered a hand up, not a handout, for Irving families in crisis. Ensuring that the most basic human needs are being met is why Irving citizens founded Irving Cares over 53 years ago. The agency served more than 37,000 people in the Irving community last year, and the need continues to increase. By providing limited financial assistance for rent, mortgage, utilities, transportation to medical facilities; and information and referral, Irving Cares promotes a client’s self-sufficiency.

Enhance your holiday season by helping an Irving family in need. Your generous gift of cash, check, or online donation is a greatly appreciated gift that gives families a hand up, not a handout.
