The Irving Heritage Society will provide tours at the Heritage Park Depot and Caster Cabin in Heritage Park at 2nd and Main Street prior to the parade on Saturday, December 3, opening at 3pm. Tours will again be available on Friday, Dec. 9 from 6:30pm-8:30pm during the Holiday in the Heritage event. Visitors will have a chance to tour the circa 1888 depot that was moved to Irving in 1986 from Fate, Texas, to represent the original depot which had been located at the head of Main Street.

The Caster Cabin was built by Henry Caster and his son Edmond in 1887. The cabin was originally a dog run cabin with two rooms. Due to a fire, it was rebuilt with some of the salvaged logs in 1988. Some of the original furnishings included in the cabin are a rocker made by Mr. Caster, the Casters’ wedding bed, a 1914 quilt and a family Bible.

All tours are free. For additional information, contact 972-252-3838.
