On April 13, 2011, Irving ISD hosted its second School-Day SAT for 1,922 junior level students across the district. 71% of the entire junior class sat down to take the test thanks to student assistance with online registration and administrative efforts in every Irving high school campus. This year’s event included the addition of 176 students for a total of 1,369 students to take the test.

After being one of two districts in the entire country where the College Board piloted the program, the program is now joined by other districts throughout the state including Houston ISD and Corpus Christi ISD. This initiative is motivated primarily by the District Improvement Plan objective to have at least 60% of each graduating class participate in college admissions testing.

According to discussions with College Board representatives, the College Board feels that a fall School-Day SAT could be considered for 2011.
